Michaela – Portraits

I am SO excited to be sharing this blog post with you all!! I’ve been storing up these images like a little kid with a goodie bag full of treats. Close to the beginning of this whole process, Brooke was helping me out with setting up a styled photo shoot with the purpose of launching the photos for my new website. I needed something fresh and new for my portfolio. I knew all along I wanted to do the photos of Michaela. Because.. she’s awesome. :) So Brooke and I got together and made an inspiration board filled with everything I wanted the shoot to contain. I wanted to go for an earthy/indie-field-with-sheep-and-yarn kind of feel. Which fits Michaela and her style perfectly. We began collecting props and outfits and accessories- and YARN. Lots of yarn. It was such a fun process. About a month ago we all got together for the shoot, spending time rolling up all of the yarn individually into different sized balls; while Brooke did Michaelas hair and makeup. Brookes cats Penny, Lola, and Leo were having a hay-day chasing all of the strings of yarn while we were trying to roll them up. Yarn must be a cats kryptonite. This styled shoot was so much fun. I loved learning from brooke, and having Michael model for us. She seriously is the cutest. All’s I think of when I look at her is “Anthropologie”. :) The location was perfect- field upon field upon.. more field, and sheeeeep! They got a little camera shy, but I was able to capture them for a shot or two which made my night. The evening was perfect from the warm, sunny weather to the sweet photos to the laughing, all the way to the chinese dinner afterwards. (mmm). :)

*I posted some of my instagrams from the night below. :)

Michael and I went to high school together; I’ve known her since I was in 8th grade and she was in 7th. She’s grown into such a beautiful girl. We both share similar styles, hobbies and interests.. one of them unashamedly being our love for the reality tv show ‘The Bachelor’. Yes, it’s true. Don’t judge us. ha ha! Every Monday night for the past month we’ve enjoyed getting together with a few of our other girl friends and partaking in our weekly sappy tv infatuation. I could always count on a weekly fb-message update from Michael on some new juicy ‘bachelor’ revelation. It was my favorite. ha ha.
Michaela is currently preparing to go into YWAM- Kona, Hawaii! She’s been making some super cool, crafty home made headbands and selling them as support for her trip. I am so excited for Michaela in where the Lord is leading her, and to see what’s in store for her future. I’ve been so blessed by our friendship and am so thankful to have gotten to use her as my model for this shoot.

These images are probably my most favorite images I have ever taken. I’d love to know your thoughts!
(Don’t forget to contact me if you’re interested in having me take some portraits for you.)
